On 27 May, 2024, in Buenos Aires (Argentina) the mid-year meeting of the Ibero American Group of the IAJ started. In attendance were 16 member associations from Latin American countries.
The meeting took place under the presidency of IAJ First Vice President, President of the IBA Group, Mr. Walter Barone, with the attendance of the IAJ President, Mr. Duro Sessa, of the Secretary-General of the IAJ, Mr. Giacomo Oberto and of the Deputy Secretary-General and Treasurer Mr. Galileo D’Agostino. The meeting dealt with current problems of the judiciary in Latin America; information was also provided by the Group’s President over the current process of monitoring of IAJ member associations, on issues related to budget and membership annual fees, as well as on the envisaged alterations of the IAJ Statutes, to be voted in Cape Town next October.
The Assembly also discussed the preparation of the next annual IAJ meeting in South Africa.
